Our Visit to a Karakul Sheep Farm, Let's Get Felting!

"Sunny Side Up" Hand Felted Pin Cushion
We had a special opportunity to visit a local farm in that is home to an endangered species of sheep called Karakul. There are only 2,000 remaining Karakul sheep in the United States and their blood line dates back to biblical times. These hearty animals give amazing variations of wool textures and colors – excellent for felting and using in outerwear garments. As soon as we got home I began designing some new pin cushions.  I am not sure why but breakfast seemed to be my inspiration for these projects!

Holidays, Babies and Crafts - oh my!

So many things going on with the holidays upon us - only 14 days till Christmas! Shopping, cooking, finding time to spend with friends and family.  With so many things already going on I can't seem to figure out why my crafty brain seems to be on hyper-drive! Maybe in an effort to save a little money on gifts this year I am plotting less expensive homemade ways to say Merry Christmas to those I love.  I am finding though that is not always the case.  By the time I have figured out how I want something to look I have spent more than it would have cost just to buy the item - I am being rather vague here in case those loved ones I am crafting for read this blog before they open their Christmas packages.  - I'll post pictures and DIY instructions after the 25th :)

In addition to all the fun surround the holidays babies seem to be sprouting up everywhere.  I can't wait to meet my new nephew by friendship in a few days.  What a great holiday gift! We are also expecting a special package!  So much to plan as we get ready for a newborn - I should be cleaning up my craft projects (or clutter piles as my family calls them) but I keep digging into them.

I think I'll blame it on the cold weather keeping me in doors for now.
